ABOUT

About Me

So Nice to Meet you!

I am Sol from Seoul. I major in Information and Interaction Design, focusing on affective HCI, novel interfaces and enactable systems. However, I also have experience being a salesperson in Mexico, and co-founding a skincare brand along the journey.

As you may have noticed in my homepage and thought what in the world is this? I like to describe my skillsets as multi-sensorially functioning, as if each of my sensory organ is a representative for my diverse interests that are united under the principle of human-centered design.

I am especially interested in enacting multi-sensorial integration via careful and ethical design research, prototyping wearables or interfaces that can provide immersive and sensorially diverse experience. I also love doing projects with data, coding and analyzing with python, drawing with JavaScript and HTML, and building unconventional prototypes.

I am also currently interested in sentiment analysis to appeal to human emotions when desigining such interfaces and not detach from everyday life actions. Some of my publications exemplify the fields I am interested in:

  • Choi, E., Kang, Y. The Effect of Multi-Sensorial Interface on Food Familiarity and Willingness to Try. In International Journal of Design (under review). [pdf]

  • Kwon, S., Choi, E., Kim, M., Hwang, S., Kim, D., & Kang, Y. (2021, August). What Happens to My Instagram Account After I Die? Re-imagining Social Media as a Commemorative Space for Remembrance and Recovery. In IFIP Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (pp. 449-467). Springer, Cham. [pdf]

  • Kim, J., Choi, E., Yoon, S., Lee, Y., & Kim, D. (Accepted, to appear). Behind Chicken Ratings: An Exploratory Analysis of Yogiyo Reviews Through Text Mining. In Journal of the Korea Contents Association. [pdf]

  • Lee, G., Kim, S., Choi, E., & Kang, Y. (Provisionally accepted). Brainstorming with an AI chatbot: does its personality matter among extraverted and introverted coworkers? In International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction. [pdf]
